Buying Guide

CONCERN:

Anti-Aging

There are two categories to look out for when it comes to tackling fine lines and wrinkles, products that treat and prevent lines and those that aim to minimise the appearance. The first category to link at is Retinol or Retinods, which promote cell turnover, stimulate collagen production, and help to even out skin tone. Hyaluronic, ceramides and other hydrators can boost and lock in moisture

Concern:

Dryness

When skin is dehydrated, avoid irritants such as alcohol and fragrances which will dry out skin. Look for hydrators to offer a dose of moisture such as Hyaluronic, Squalane, B Vitamins & Ceramides. Ceramides help repair the skin barrier and lock moisture in, a good addition for conditions such as Eczema

Concern:

Blemishes

It’s important to look out for oil-free or noncomedogenic products. Even acne-prone teen needs to moisturise to keep the barrier healthy. Select products with pore-cleansing ingredients, like salicylic or glycolic acids or zinc. If you’re on the dry or combination side opt for a moisturiser, those with oily skin go for light lotions or gels. Sun exposure is the adversary of acne, non-irritating sunscreens, help reduce the development of long-lasting blemishes

Dermalogica Calm Water Gel

Concern:

Sensitivity

Seek out simple formulas; the more basic, the better. Steer clear of AHA & BHAs, such as glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acids. Fragrance-free, this is non negotiable for sensitivity; it provides no added benefit to the performance of you skincare instead look for potent yet gentle botanicals like chamomile, aloe or colloidal oats.

Concern:

Sun Exposure

We need to rethink sun protection especially here in the UK, applying daily sun protection is a no brainer, even in the winter months. A moisturiser with SPF 30 provides hydration as well as shielding your skin from sun damage

Concern:

Pigmentation

Uneven skin tone is commonly a result of excess dead skin cells that build up on the surface of the skin. Remedy this with a physical/chemical exfoliant. Use Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant to repair, defend & reverse pigmentation, reduce scar tissue, and age spots.
